Four weddings and a funeral

Charles is an attractive man who has a lot of girlfriends.

The first wedding is that of Angus and Laura. Charled is the best man and he and his single friends wonder if they will ever get married.
At the wedding, Charles meets Carrie, a beautiful American and they spend the night together.

The second wedding is that of Bernard and Lydia. They met in the first wedding.
Charles is happy because Carrie is attending the wedding but she goes with her fiancé Sir Hamish Banks.
Charles and Carrie spend a night together.

A monthd later, Charles recived an invitation to Carrie's wedding. While shopping in London, Charles bumps up into Carrie in a shop and he helps Carrie to select her wedding dress.
Charles confess his love but he comes too late.

The third wedding is that of Carrie and Hamish.
Charles is depresed because is the Carrie's wedding.
During the groom's toast, Garreth dies of a heart attack.

The funeral is that of Garreth.
After the funeral, Charles and Tom (Charles's friend) have a discussion.

The fourth wedding is that of Charled and Henrietta (an old girlfriend of Charles).
Before the wedding Carrie arrives at the church and reveals to Charled that she and Hamish aren't together.

During the wedding, when the vicar asks that if anyone knows a reason why the couple should not marry, David (a deaf brother of Charles) says in sign language that Charles is having doubts and loves someone else.

Finally, Charles proposes Carrie to spend the rest of her life with him without marriage and she says yes.




I enjoyed reading the book because it's very funny but I would like to change the end.

If I could change the wedding, I would like to read the wedding of Charles and Carrie.

In my opinion, in the fourth wedding, when the vicar asks if anyone knows a reason why the couple should not marry, Charles should tell that he falls in love with Carrie and he wants to spend his life with her and after that, Charles will marry Carrie.

My English competence in 2014

It has been three years that I did this blog and, as you can see, I have a lot of posts.

If I have to choose my best oral evidence, definetly I choose my last podcast "Fashion stereotypes". 

On the one hand, I talked about a topic that I like and it's interesting for me. I learned new vocabulary, too.

On the other hand, I think that when I did my oral presentations, they weren't very good because I get very nervous and, when I did them in front of the class, I read a little bit. However, when I did the oral presentations, I spent a really good time with Xènia.

First of all, I think that in this your-say I showed my ability to write in English, I used conectors, rich vocabulary, a good structure,...

Secondly, I think that it's important to write about a topic that I like because when I wrote it, I did it with enthusiasm and it wasn't difficult to write.

In conclusion, I think that I did a really good job and there are another posts that I think that they are good like the description of my mom or the your-say that I wrote about my future.

My English progress from 2012-2014

If I can see my first post and my last post in this blog I can see an enormous evolution.

When I started this blog I didn't make an effort. I did the tasks that the teacher said but, as you can see, in the beginning of my blog my posts are short and very basic. I only wrote one paragraph, I didn't use the dictionary, I spent a long time to write my posts,...

Now, I think that I learn a lot of English and I'm able to do better posts, like my lasts posts, that they are longer and the vocabulary is more rich. The structure in my posts are good (two or three paragraphs), I use the dictionary, when I write a post I do it more quick than before, ...

Even though I can do better posts, I'm very proud of myself because this year I learned a lot and the result that I have is very positive and it makes me a motivation to learn more English in the future.

Benetton Rana Plaza Protests

Protesters chained their hands and necks in Benetton's shop in Oxford Circus in the first anniversary of the Rana Plaza in Bangladesh.

The cause is the fall of the clothes factory in Bangladesh that it killed 1,134 people and injuring over 2,500 people. In the ruins there were Benetton labels and the clothes brand didn't want to pay the compensation to the survivors and the families.

There are clothes companies like Primark, which their company is in the Rana Plaza building, and it begun to pay the remunerations to the survivors and families of the victims of the tragedy.

People who protest think that $40 milion dollars would be the compensation that Benetton would have to pay.

Dolce and Gabbana Found Guilty Of Tax Evasion

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were guilty of tax evasion.

The trial took place the month before by a three-judge panel that they decided that the designers were guilty. 

The veredict was 20 years of prision sentence for them because of the sale of their brands "Dolce and Gabbana" and "G&B" to the holding society Srl in 2004.

The duo always denied the charges that they have been accused, and in March the district attorney, Gaetano Santamaría, said that "the case is groundless".

Blair Waldorf

Blair Waldorf is a Gossip girl character that I feel identified.

She is an insecure girl who loves be in style, she always want to look good and she loves go shopping.

Her favourite film is "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and she admires Audrey Hepburn, like me.

In Gossip Girl, Blair is the Queen B of her high school, and sometimes my friends tell me that when they listen Queen B, they think with me because I'm very pretty and there are people who say that I'm posh.

Another characteristic that I look like her is that if I want something, I don't stop until get it.

Fashion Bloggers

Nowadays, thanks to the social media, appears the "Fashion Bloggers".

Fashion Bloggers are people who love fashion clothes, they take photos of themselves and then, they write a post about their style in their blogs.

It's funny to follow them because you can see colour combinations that you can't never think that they can be combinated together. For example, blue and coral.

There are a lot of Fashion Bloggers, the most famous in Spain is "Dulceida" and one of the most important in the world is "Song of style".

Everytime there are more top models who become Fashion Bloggers. In their posts, they tell their experiences as top models and they show us their style.

Greece

In 2010, I had the trip of my dreams: I went to Greece.

I was in my house when my Grandma telephoned me. She told me that she will go to Greece in summer and if I would to go with her. Obviously my answer was YES!

When the day arrived, I went to Barcelona and there I caught a plane direction Venice because it's the place where it was the cruise.

I stayed eight days in the cruise. It was an unforgettable experience! 

I went to all of Greek Islands. Athens and Dubrovnik (Croatia), too.

The places who I loved the most were Santorini and Mykonos. They are special and very beautiful Islands.

In the cruise I met a lot of people around the world, specially Italian and South African people. They were very friendly.

I would like to repeat the trip because, like I said before, it was an unforgettable experience and it was an oportunity to know another cultures and met new people.

Nomophobia

Nowadays, there are an important number of people who are totally dependent on their mobile phones.

On the one hand, it is a big problem because every time there are more people who are constantly watching their mobile phones and they can't live without them.

On the other hand, this problem is important because face-to-face conversations are decreasing and, in the long term, people won't meet.

In conclusion, I think that we have to try to refuse nomophobia because it creates us a dependence and this problem will affect on our lives.

Fashion stereotypes

In Fashion world there are a lot of stereotypes. For example, you have to be super skinny for to be beautiful. 

According to the stereotype of beauty, we have to be tall (minimum 1'70 cm) and we have to be 90-60-90 body size.

A few years ago, it wasn't like this. The girls who had a 38 size were beautiful and fashion icons, like Marilyn Monroe. Now, if you don't have the smallest size you are fat and ugly.

This type of stereotype causes eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia and it's dangerous because there are a lot of teenagers who suffer these disorders because they want to be attractive.

Nowadays, there are some clothes brands who want to break with it and they try to show the "real women"; women with real sizes like in the past.

In my opinion, I think that it's a good idea show the "real women" because I suffered the consequences of stereotypes and I don't want that other people happen for them because they are very hard.

Cara Delevingne

Cara Delevingne was born the 12th of August 1992 in London. She is a english supermodel, actress and singer.

She became famous in 2011 when she worked in Buberry's spring/summer 2011 campaign. After that, she became the face of Buberry's in 2012.

The model has worked in other brands like H&M, Zara, Blumarine and Chanel.

She was described by British Vogue like the "star face" of the autumn/winter 2012-2013 for her works on the catwalk with Shiatzy Chen, Moschino, Oscar de la Renta, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Stella Mc Cartney, Dsquared and Buberry.

Nowadays she is the face of Chanel and she is working for Victoria's Secret, the famous brand who makes spectacular fashion shows.

Cara Delevingne is also famous for her dark, bushy eyebrows that it's her trademark.

In 2012, she won the prize of "Model of the year" at the British Fashion Awards.

My 19th birthday

Last Saturday, 19th of April it was my birthday. It was a perfect day!

For lunch, I went with my family to my favourite restaurant called "Vecchia Milano". I love its food because it is Italian and it's my favourite.

In the afternoon, I went with my mom to Figueres to buy some things. We went to Tous and she bought me a beautiful bracelet.

At 9 o'clock, I met my friends at Sara's house. We had dinner and after that I blew the candles.

When we finished eating the cake, we went for a walk to Empuriabrava.

The secret science of attraction

The psycologist Arthur Arun did an experiment who consists to do pairs of strangers and then, they were told to look into each other about their feelings and lives. Then, they had to look into each other's eyes, in silence, for four minutes.

The people who did the experiment were attracted by the intimacy of the situation and specially by the eye contact.

There are 3 phases of love:

1- Through the pheromones, we generate romantic signals
2- We feel "lovesick"
3- After 2 years people settle down happily.

Villarreal give life ban to rogue fan who threw banana at Dani Alves

Dani Alves, a FC Barcelona footballer, suffered a racism abuse from Villarreal's fan that he threw a banana at him when the footballer was taking a corner.

The person who threw the banana was identified by the Club and the members decided that he never can go to the El Madrigal Stadium.

The Brazilian took the situation like he didn't affects and he ate the banana, and when the competition finished, Dani Alves posted in his Instagram a video joking where he explained that his father said to him that he must eat bananas to prevent cramp.

This isn't the first time that Dani Alves suffered racism abuse. In 2013 he was abused in Real Madrid Stadium.

The FC Barcelona won the game against Villarreal (2-0). It was the first football match after Tito Vilanova's death.

Description of a person

Concepció, my mom, is 50. She doesn't look like me because she has brown eyes and blonde hair, while my eyes are honey ans I'm light-brown-haired.

She is quite tall an has a well-built figure. She always looks good because she likes to wear beautiful clothes but her style is casual.

My mom is working in a school as a canteen assistant and helps little children to eat.
When we go to the street children stop my mom to say hello. They love her!

My mom didn't go to the University but she is intelligent. She speaks Catalan, Spanish and French very well.

She is a nervous person but she is so sweet too.

I admire her because she practically has brought up my sister and I alone and she never has gave up.

On the one hand, I disagree that the health service in the USA has to be private because there is a lot of poverty in your country and I think that it is unfair because there are families whose wages are so low and if they are ill, they will not be able to go a hospital because they could not pay the treatment.

On the other hand, I agree that you could make health service public because it is fair for everyone. For example, in Spain there are the social services which consists of free health service for people who work and pay the taxes indirectly form their salary.

I hope that you will accept changes about this health reform.

Beyoncé's concert

A few months ago, I saw Beyoncé's concert in Madrid. It was so amazing!

I think that nobody disagreed that Beyoncé is one of the best singers in the world.

In the concert, Beyoncé sang her last album "Beyoncé". The best song was "Drunk in love", it was so sweety and lovely because her husband, Jay Z, sang with her.

The concert took place in El Palacio de los Deportes in Madrid. Unfortunately I couldn't go there, but I saw it on video and, in my opinion, it was the best concert that I have ever seen.

The photographer Dane Shitagi has been working in a "Ballerina Project" that it consists in to take photos of different ballerinas on the street or another places that they aren't on the stage.

There are an Instagram account where are the photos. The account has 240.000 followers.

The professional ballerinas appear in solitary and in an urban place because they look more natural and their beauty stands out.

Alessandra Ambrosio on Designing Her Own Clothing Line

Alessandra Ambrosio (Vicroria's Secret Topmodel) announced her own clothing line before the kick-off the New York Fashion Week, when she was busy about football. She said that she was at her first Super Bowl accompanied by her fiancé.

The Super Bowl wasn't the reason that Alessandra travel to New York. She travel to the City that never sleeps because she wanted to show her own clothing line for Planet Blue.

Her clothing line consists on how she dress (versatile, sexy and sensual, and very feminine). The prices of the line starts at $60 to $270 and it will be sale on shops and online on 17th of March.

Briton Polly McCourt gives birth in New York street

Polly Mc Court gave birth when she left her Upper East Side home last Monday.

She gave birth at the junction of East 68th Street and 3rd Ave.

People who walked near Polly offered their scarves and coat to warm her and her child before the emergency arrived where they were. A woman who helped Polly said that it was "A Miracle on 3rd Avenue".

The mother and her child arrived healthy at the hospital.

Polly's husband was stuck in traffic when he got the call that his wife was giving birth at their third child.

According to the New York Daily News, the couple have two other children, Conor and Adele.

Spanish flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucia dies

The famous Spanish flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucia has died at the age of 66.

Paco de Lucia was famous because he created the "New Flamenco" that it consists by crossover collaborations with guitarists, for example, Eric Clapton and jazz pianist Chick Corea.

Paco de Lucia was in Mexico when he started to be ill. 

He died Tuesday, on the way to the hospital in Mexico.

Miguel Nuñez said that Paco de Lucia died because of a heart attack.

My future

This year is my last year in high school. In September, I will go to the University.

I would like to study in Girona because I'm near my house than  if I study in Barcelona.

In the University, I would like to study pedagogy or psychology because they are degrees that they appeal to me and I would like to help people who need it.

During my years in Girona I would like to live with my friends in a flat because I think that it's an experience that I never forget and it helps me to be more independent.

Before I finish the degree I would like to do an Erasmus because I want to know another culture, to meet new people and to learn another language.

Another thing that I would like to do is learn more english and get the first certificate or another english qualification and for get it, I would like to live in England for few months.

British Style

I'm a girl who loves style and be fashion. One of my favourite styles is the British style because the people are very elegant and always look good.

The english girls are famous for their extravagant style. They use a lot of make up, a lot of extensions, fake eye lashes and fake nails.

I also love their clothes. They sometimes wear dresses or skirts and high-heeled shoes.

The thing that I like the most is that they don't criticise between their for their way to dress because they have got a lot of personality or at least it seems. 

Facebook's WhatsApp adding voice calls

Whatsapp was bought by Mark Zuckerberg, the inventor of Facebook for $19 bilion.

At the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Whatsapp Company said that Whatsapp will adding phone calls to its list of services, and it will be free.

Nowdays, Whatsapp offers unlimited messages between users. It costs 99 cents yearly.

Voice service will start with Apple and Andoid's systems and then with Windows and Blackberry's phones.

The "new" Whatsapp has got a lot of competiton with other apps that their offer voice messages such as Skype.

PETA celebrates Animal-Friendly Designers

The brands that they are "friends of animals" were honoured by PETA in its Approved Vegan Fashion Awards. Stella McCartney was one of the winner brands.

Stella McCartney, that she never put animals' skin on her clothes or her accessories, was joined by Vivienne Westwood, who won the prize of Most Stylish Men's Outerwear.

Another brands that they won prizes were ASOS, New Look and Topshop.

Alice Vandy won the title of Most Talented New Designer.

Can Internet change the world for the better?

It seems that our society has become complety dependent on the Internet.

From our point of view there are more positive than negative aspects about the changes in the world because of the Internet.

On the one hand, we can know a lot of information more quickly about a lot of different things. For example, we can know the economic situation of Jamaica. In addiction, we are connected with the society, a lot of people find a job in the Internet, you can buy clothes, cars, etc. Moreover, you can see your family, your friends, etc throught the Internet. For this reason a lot of people use it.

On the other hand, to use Internet is bad for the society because we don't comunicate face to face so much. Lastly, Internet is a bad thing because it creates addiction.

In conclusion, we think that Internet is a good social media but we should make a better use of it.

SOCIAL MEDIA

I use Internet for a lot of things: to search information, to talk with my friends, to buy clothes, to watch TV programmes, etc.

Nowdays, Internet is an important thing in my life because I have Internet in my own cell phone and in my house too.

The social networks that I always use are Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. This apps are in my computer and they are also in my cell phone.

For search information, I use different webs, one of they is Wikipedia that it started in 2001.

Gossip girl

From my point of view, Gossip girl is the best TV programme in the world.

The programme takes place in the city of New York, specially on Manhattan and Brooklyn and sometimes in Paris.

Gossip girl tells the story of Serena Van Der Woodsen, Blair Waldorf, Chuck Bass, Nate Archibald and Dan Humphrey. They are wealthy teenagers that they live in Manhattan's Upper East Side, except Dan Humphrey that he lives in Brooklyn because he isn't rich, although he goes to the same school that the others.

There are a lot of romances in the serie but my favourite is the relationship between Chuck and Blair because it's a complicated romace because they are so similar and they are very proud and they don't want to recognize it. But I think that it's a lovely relationship (It remembers me the relationship between Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy;)).

My favourite character is Blair Waldorf. I really feel identified with her because she loves be in style, she is a little bit insecure but she is very strong and she doesn't let anybody trample over her.

She admires Audrey Hepburn and her favourite film is "Breakfast at Tiffany's, like me.

Study of ADHD

Hello, as you know, my name is Marina Bordas and my research project is about the study of ADHD.

I decided to do my project about ADHD because I would like to study psychology at University, and it is a disorder that is increasingly diagnosed in children and some years ago it was diagnosed for my sister.
This disorder is quite complex, because many people think that it's invented.

Attention deficit – hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common source
neurobiological that begins in childhood between 7-9 years old, and is characterized by
presence of attention deficit disorder, hyperactivity and impulsivity.

Impulsivity is characterized by a lack of self-control or inability to inhibit behavior.
Hyperactivity is characterized by frequent movement of hands and feet.

There is no definite cause for 100% ADHD. Not all children have the same symptoms and the symptoms can vary according to age, so may cause problems about diagnosis and treatment. The treatment of ADHD is multimodal, that is, involves more than one professional doctor,teachers, parents and the patient. And medicines are dangerous, as there are many side effects.

Doing the project I learnt that there are many people who don't know what ADHD is and I think that it should be reported because, as I mentioned before, there are more people with the disorder and, from the point of view of education, I think that teachers should adapt exams and follow the protocol that has been established so that students can continue in classes , with good conditions and they are more motivated to get better marks.

El meu treball de recerca tracta sobre l'estudi del TDAH. L'objectiu principal del meu treball és conèixer i ampliar els coneixements que tenia sobre la malaltia.

També he pogut saber com se senten les persones afectades i els seus familiars i el punt de vista de la malaltia dels professionals psicològics i clínics.

Realitzant el treball he pogut concloure que no hi han causes que determinin el TDAH al 100% sino que hi han una sèrie de factors que el poden causar o afavorir, que els símptomes no estàn del tot clars i que no totes les persones amb el trastorn tenen els mateixos. El diagnòstic no és fàcil ja que hi han altres malalties o trastorns amb característiques similars i això pot provocar un mal diagnòstic i sobre el tractament he pogut conèixer que hi ha implicades més d'una intervenció.

ENGLISH:

My reaserch project is about the AD/HD study. The principal objective is to learn and to increase my knowledge of the disease.

Also, I can observe how affected people feel and their families and the point of view of phsycologists and doctors.

Doing my project I can conclude that they aren't causes that determine the AD/HD in 100% only there are factors that they can cause or favor, symptoms aren't clarity and not all the people have the same. The diagnosis isn't easy because there are some diseases or disorders with characteristics similars and this can cause an incorrect diagnosis and about the treatment I can learn that there are interventions that they get involved.
